The Actor: Finding a New Role
by RogerGirl
Taylor Reed was the definition of the modern day young actor. He wasn't very muscular, but had a cute face and an adoring fan base of teenage girls. He had started acting at five years old and had recently turned twenty. Throughout his career he had always been cast as the cute little kid or the popular high school boy when he got older. Most people who weren't teenage girls thought he was just a one note teen heart throb who could only do comedies, sitcoms, and other light teenage fare. He had gotten tired of not being taken seriously as an actor and was looking for a role that would finally win him respect. He had asked his agent to find him a new project and was sitting in his agent's office.
"Well," his agent said, "I've been looking around and I've found a few roles."
"Thanks Bob," Taylor said, "what have we got?"
"This first one is a horror movie," he replied handing Taylor a script.
"Could I play the killer?" Taylor asked looking through the script.
"Sorry," Bob answered, "that part's already been cast. I have another script here for an action movie."
"Oh, I was thinking something more in the drama category," Taylor said disappointed.
"Well, there is one," Bob said hesitantly, "I had actually got it for one of my other clients, but she decided to try theater. I'm not sure if you'd want to try it, but if you pulled it off you would definitely be respected."
"So, I'd be playing another boyfriend?" Taylor asked looking through the script.
"Actually, it's called Life Cycle of a Star and you would be the young actress," his agent replied, "I recall you doing an episode of "Campus Follies" a couple years back where your character disguised himself as a cheerleader and you looked quite convincing as a girl."
Taylor thought it over as he read through the script. It was an intense drama in which a young actress decides to make some drastic changes in her career. Like Taylor, the actress is seen as just another teen sensation who isn't taken seriously. Even though it was a female role, he felt like the role was written for him. He told his agent he'd give it a shot and his agent got him an audition. They decided it would be best for him to audition dressed as a girl in order to give him a better chance of getting the part. He had grown his hair long recently for a surfing movie and had a pretty slim body. With the help of his longtime hair, makeup, and costume people he was able to transform himself from Taylor the actor into Taylor the actress for the audition.
